Light the Temple

Move the torch over the room. This is pixel art with three maps: its colour, the way each pixel faces, and its height, shine and glow. The carving on the left wall exists only in the normal map, so a low light finds it.

One file, three maps

Built by Claude with SpriteRelay CLI as one Aseprite file with 21 layers: a visible Color group and hidden Normal and Data groups, one layer per part in each. These maps are its real exports.

Every colour is a direction

In the normal map, red is left to right, green is down to up and blue is facing you. Directions are rounded to a set of 41, so the map is pixel art too.

Data

red is height, green is shine, blue is glow. A pixel that glows at 128 or more is a light, which is why the idol's eyes light the room.

The light is computed in your browser from the maps, stepped into bands with ordered dithering so it stays pixel art. spriterelay.com
